Nip it Ant Control

Aug 13, 2025 | Applications

Ants are a common issue in South Africa especially during the warm months when they become more active in search of food and water. Most ants are harmless, but they can become a nuisance in homes, damage plants and cause structural issues. To eliminate the nest effectively, the queen must be targeted.

Nip it Ant Control offers the ultimate solution to eradicate ants, on the surface and in the nest. It can be scattered around nests (do not disturb the nest), where ants are spotted or along the ant trail. The granular bait has a protein base and is carried to the nest, where they feed on it and then stop gathering food. This way the whole colony is wiped out within days, including the queen. Nip-it is 99% organic with a low toxicity to humans and pets.  Available in a 200 g shaker or 3 kg tub.

Ants are adaptive insects that contribute positively to the environment. They function as predators of small insects such as termites and caterpillars, and they consume various insect eggs and larvae. By digging tunnels, ants enhance soil structure through aeration and aid in the decomposition of organic material, such as plant matter and debris, thereby returning essential nutrients to the soil.

While beneficial, ants can also harm gardens by protecting aphids that produce honeydew, leading to more pests and plant health issues. Their colonies alter soil structure and destroy plant roots, which can result in plant death.

Ants can enter homes, contaminate food, and introduce bacteria that lead to food spoilage. While they do not directly transmit diseases, their bites can cause allergic reactions and skin itching.

To prevent infestations:

  • Seal entry points to block access
  • Store food in airtight containers
  • Clean up spills immediately
  • Fix leaks to eliminate water sources
  • Sweep floors and wipe surfaces regularly to remove food particles

Effective ant control requires a combination of prevention, identification and targeted treatment. By pro-actively maintaining cleanliness, sealing entry points and using Nip-it Ant Control, one can manage infestations and prevent further problems.
